Wakulla County Seeks Volunteers for the Program for Public Information

Are You Interested in Serving on the
Wakulla County Program for Public Information?

Wakulla County is currently seeking three (3) citizens who have a willingness to serve as a member on the Program for Public Information.

With the assistance of the Florida Department of Emergency Management and Silver Jackets, Wakulla County is participating in the development of a Multi-Jurisdictional Program for Public Information in collaboration with the City of St. Marks, City of Tallahassee, and Leon County. The objective of this committee is to develop public outreach materials and create awareness of flood hazards and related topics within our communities. Additionally, the development and implementation of this program will afford the County with additional CRS credits aiding to improve the County’s CRS rating. This in turn reduces the overall cost of flood insurance to individuals in our community.

In addition to County staff, at least half of the membership of this committee shall be made up of stakeholders in the County. Eligible members may include: residents of the floodplain, emergency/disaster responders (e.g. Red Cross, Salvation Army), utility companies, Chamber of Commerce or business organization, trade associations of builders or contractors, environmental organizations, insurance agencies, or major employers.

These positions are on a volunteer basis only. The meeting frequency for the Program for Public Information is estimated to be two (2) meetings per year. Citizens wishing to serve as a member should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in serving and provide a resume or other statement of relevant experience, which includes the person’s name, address, telephone number, and email address, no later than Monday, April 22, 2024. Please email your information to Ashley Rowland-Yost at ayost@mywakulla.com or by fax to 850-926-1528.
