GIS SPECIALIST

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) position in the Planning and Community Development Department. This is a full-time professional position with benefits which requires a technical knowledge of GIS, researching, preparing for, and the production of interactive online maps, as well as static map products to satisfy requests of county citizens and departments. Special projects may be assigned to this position as warranted by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Planning and Community Development.

The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in one or more areas related to GIS systems methodologies, techniques, and tools. Minimum qualifications include 18 years of age, high school graduate, a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university in computer science, GIS, planning, one of the physical or natural sciences or a closely related field. Alternative qualifying education, professional certification, and experience, that provide the necessary knowledge, skills or abilities, will be considered in lieu of the required college education. At least one (1) year of experience in ESRI, ArcGIS is required. Experience with ESRI ArcMAP, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro and Microsoft Office products is desired. Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
