Wakulla County 4-H Teen C.E.R.T Project Unveiling in Partnership with Local Artist

4-H Art Reveal

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. – Wakulla County’s 4-H Teen Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) Program unveiled the artwork for their community service project in partnership with Rachell Mathis, Wakulla County Road and Bridge Department, and Keep Wakulla County Beautiful (KWCB) on July 25, 2023, at the Wakulla County UF/IFAS Extension Office.

Rachell Mathis, dedicated Wakulla County employee and renowned local artist said, “It has been a wonderful experience to work with such passionate teens in our County to create such meaningful art, which will spread the message far and wide, to keep our community clean by discouraging littering of all types."

Mathis volunteered her time and skills with 4-H youth to create a series of three road signs exhibiting original artwork designed to showcase Wakulla’s natural environment. Wakulla County Road and Bridge is working with KWCB to determine the locations for six signs to be placed on Wakulla County right-of-way. One design will also be used as the KWCB Coastal Cleanup T-shirt this year.

“The youth have worked diligently with Rachell Mathis, Keep Wakulla County Beautiful, and Wakulla County Road and Bridge Department on this project,” said Extension Agent, Dr. Rachel Pienta, “this community service project is aimed at educating the public and encouraging the community to keep Wakulla County’s natural resources pristine.”
