Employment Opportunity: Public Relations Specialist
The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Public Relations Specialist within the Administration Office. The position reports to the Public Information Officer who also serves as the Tourist Development Coordinator.

This is a professional and creative position that surrounds preparing public information and marketing materials for dissemination. This position requires proficiency in skills such as written and verbal communication, research, analytic analysis, computer (i.e., Microsoft applications), advertising, marketing, and tourism. Applicants should be able to analyze laws, policies, and guidance documents.

Tourism Development Support: Assists with drafting meeting notices and preparing agendas, agenda items, or supporting documentation. Attends all Tourist Development Council (TDC) and committee meetings, takes notes and assists with preparing minutes for TDC and/or committee approval. Attends external tourism-related events during normal work hours or after work hours, which may include weekends. Assists with producing reports on TDC activities and conducting tourism-based research.

Public Information Office Support: Assists with project research, drafting press releases, reports, social media content, and developing public information campaigns.

Other Duties: Performs other related tasks and duties as may be required or requested.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications and two years of experience with similar work (i.e., local or state promotional organization, communications office, or advertising firm). Valid Florida’s driver’s license. A sample of your writing skills would be appreciated, but not required. Drug screening and background checks are required.
