EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:  Probation Officer

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full time, benefited Probation Officer located in the County Courthouse Probation Office.  This position is responsible for supervising offenders who have been placed on court ordered probation.  This position reports directly to the Director of Probation Services. 

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or one of the Social/Behavioral Sciences is strongly preferred.  However, 4 years of experience in a related field can substitute on a year for year basis for the Degree. The qualified applicant needs to have the ability to work with clients on a one-on-one basis with tact, diplomacy, and courtesy.  Must be able to work cooperatively with court personnel and corresponding agencies.  Must be able to work independently, use good judgement and discretion, analyze case histories, and work well under pressure. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing is a plus.
